Ecological Surveys and Vegetation Mapping

Vegetation Surveys, Fauna Surveys and Mapping of Coastal Plant Communities on the Warrell and Gumma Peninsulas
Undertook vegetation and fauna surveys and mapping of coast plant communities for NSW Native Title Services Ltd.  Produced detailed maps of the area, including locations of identified threatened fauna and flora species.  Evaluated and reported on the conservation values of the area.  Included participation in production of a video highlighting the environmental values of the area, which was then presented to the local Nambucca people.

Threatened Plant Surveys, National Parks of the Kyogle District
Contracted in 2002 by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to survey approx. 200km of roads and trails within Toonumbar, Richmond Range, Tooloom and Mallanganee National Parks for threatened plants.  Produced detailed report, maps of locations and recommendations.

Strategic surveys for large forest owls in Cypress-Ironbark forests in western NSW
Contracted by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to undertake a strategic survey for large forest owls. Produced detailed report, maps and recommendations. 

Vegetation surveys in the north-east of NSW for the Natural Resources Audit Council
Contracted by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to undertake plot-based surveys including full floristics, structure and physical characteristics.  Locations in Tenterfield district, Drake, Nymboida Shire, Washpool, Border Ranges, Ballina Shire, Byron Shire and Cobaki-Broadwater on the Queensland-NSW border) with sites in vegetation associations ranging from heathland and coastal sclerophyll to dry open forest and rainforest.

Flora and Fauna Study of the Byron Shire
Contracted by Byron Shire Council to undertake a shire-wide study of the flora and fauna of Byron Shire.  Project management included co-ordination of API, GIS and database management subcontractors, liaison with Council and stakeholders, community consultation.  The project also included design of a database, development of mapping specifications, compilation of historical data, flora and fauna survey targeting rare and threatened species, vegetation mapping and ground-truthing, assessment of conservation values and recommendations.  The study was undertaken in collaboration with Ecograph and Terrafocus Pty Ltd.  The Byron Study won the Local Government Excellence in the Environment Award.
